Don Pedro FFA

Don Pedro High FFA has had a very succesful year so far full of conferences, meetings, and Livestock Judging. A few weeks ago Friday the 16th, 6 FFA members attended a MFE/ALA confrence in Modesto. The Freshmen and Sophmores attended MFE and learned plenty of new skills about leadership. They took many classes to find out their strengths and how they can apply them to be successful in life. The Juniors all attended ALA where they learned how to get their community involved in Agriculture and about Ag literacy. After all the sessions on Friday, they held a dance and it was a great experience for those who attended the confrence. We have also been practice judging in Merced were we got a chance to evalute and handle real livestock before our contests. This Friday, March 2nd, the judging team will be attending their first real Judging contest. It will be held at UC Davis and starts on Saturday morning.  It will be a full packed day of competition. For many of us on the team, it will be our first real contest and we hope to learn and grow from it. It will be another great opportunity for the Ag students of Don Pedro High to learn more about FFA!

Basketball

The boys basketball continues their efforts with games ever Tuesday and Friday. They have been putting in great efforts through out their first games and practicing hard to win games. So far, they haven't successfully won any games but with their hard work and constant team work the school has real hope that they will pull through and have some really great games. Last Tuesday they held a home game against Delta Charter Dragons and had a real fun game to watch. They all worked together great and had spectacular sportsmanship through out the game. They came off strong with having the first 2 points but the Dragons stepped up their game and ended winning. They will be having another away game against Mountain Oaks Eagles this Friday and the cheerleaders will be traveling along with them to keep their spirits high and cheer them on through out the game. They will be having another home game next Tuesday, January 31st against Lodi Academy at 6:00. Please come to support your local boy's basketball team.

Landscaping for January

Don Pedro’s Landscaping class has been doing a great job this month renovating our campus. They have begun repainting the shade structure and are making it look new again. They are going over the old colors with a fresh teal and accenting in with black lining and letters. They have all worked hard together and the project is coming along nicely. Also they have begun to clear the area for the new green house. They are taking down the older tress and leveling ground and working together to have the ground ready to install the structure in the spring. Thank you to Mr. Monn and your Landscaping class for continuously working hard and keep the campus clean and alive

I'm Kaycie and I'm a new student here at DPHS!

My name is Kaycie Edwards and I'm a Junior. Before I came to Don Pedro High I went to a few other schools. My Freshmen year I went to Davis High, Sophmore year I went to Turlock High and then Mariposa High. My Junior year first semester I was at Golden Lakes Charter School and now DPHS. From all the high schools I've been to, I have to say Mariposa was my favortite, but that is just so far.But it seems I like the little schools compared to the big city schools are my favorite because people tend to judge you less.I am looking forward to this being my favorite school. I've only been here for 3 days, but it's looking good so far!

This month we will be having meetings and practices for livestock judging after school. Our Agriculture Teacher Mr. Monn, has been spending his time making sure that we exceed in FFA and we are very grateful to have a Teacher that is so dedicated.
